Paul Butterworth is an experienced British actor with a near 50 year career in film and television.  Raised in northern England, his father was a vicar, and his mother a drama teacher.

After graduating from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London in 1977 as a drama teacher, Paul quickly established himself in children's theatre, community theatre, and repertory productions. His television debut came in 1979 with Coronation Street, and he has since been a regular on both the big and little screen ever since. You may have seen him as Barry in The Full Monty, for which the cast received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture (1997), Richard in Richard Eyre’s Allelujah and Robin's (played by Holiday Grainger) dad Michael Ellacott in the TV Strike series.

Next up in 2025 is Anenome where Paul plays Mr Jarvis in a beautifully written two-hander scene opposite Samantha Morton. Daniel Day-Lewis in Anenome is No 1 of Variety's 'Most Anticipated Film Performances of 2025.

Here’s Danny!

Daniel Day-Lewis, the three-time Oscar-winning legend (“There Will Be Blood,” “Lincoln” and “My Left Foot”), is coming out of retirement for “Anemone,” a Focus Features film directed by his son Ronan, which they co-wrote together. It’s his first feature since “Phantom Thread” (2017). While details regarding the project remain under wraps, Day-Lewis’ involvement alone makes this one of the most highly anticipated projects of the decade. Known for his intense method-acting approach, we expect nothing short of a masterclass from the English thespian.

Paul also has a BA in English and History from Leeds Beckett University and a BA (Hons) Painting: 2:1 from the University for the Creative Arts. When not acting he is in his studio painting joyful abstracts.
